untitled
May 22, 2007Yesterday, I tried to enter this painting into an alumni show to be held during Art Fair. I was supposed to email the details and a picture, but when I did, the email bounced – mailbox full. Sigh.
I had been keeping the painting to myself, as I’m unsure of it. But I figured if I was willing to hang it in a show, I may as well share it online. I haven’t posted my work here in a long time, partly because I haven’t been making much, partly because of the deafening silence when I used to. But in the spirit of Ze Frank and Bye Bye Doody, it’s done, it’s out there, it is what it is and it isn’t art if no one sees it. Comments – either positive or negative – are welcome, but silence is ok too.

I like it! Cool (literally) tones, wavy lines make me think of the ocean. And either bubbles or people. I tend to be a little too literal, so I hope that doesn’t sound like an insult. :-|
(I’ve clearly been spending too much time on IconBuffet, because some of the circular patterns are reminding me of the generic person silhouette that you see in so many of their icons.)
Hm. Should’ve stopped with “I like it!”
It has a soothing effect on me – water with different lights on it – like when you’re sitting on a shore in a welcome distance some nice place and relax…
Is this one you would let your little sister borrow to hang in her new house?
btw — wanna come see Pink Martini with me on July 25th? I have four tix for their appearance at Zoo Tunes. Think of a much smaller Ravinia or Grant Park. It should be good.
Thanks, all! Water, people, it all works. What was in my mind (and continues to be) is the weird connections between people which are formed on the internet. Clearer, fuzzier, closer, farther – the space between us is simultaneously infinite and infinitesimal. Time-shifted relationships, asynchronous communication. Or water. It all works.
Amy – we’re already seeing Pink Martini here in A2 in June.
I like it too. If you are looking for a title, I suggest “silence is ok too.” It is a nice thought, a nice phrase.
