The stars are bright

First day at SXSW was a pretty mixed bag. Up way too early in the morning, second flight was really rough. But the hotel room was ready when we arrived and the box of Not an Employee swag that UPS was telling us would be delayed until Monday was already at the hotel. Woot! Didn’t manage to nab any free food or drink (EPIC FAIL), but Keith and I had a nice lunch at Habana.

The How to Bankrupt Your Startup panel was a great kick-off for the week - like the old adage about any movie with a monkey in it has to be good, I’m quite sure that any panel with a unicorn on it will rawk, as the kids say.

I took a cab out to the Austin Coworking Meetup - it was way down Congress, out of the ‘regular’ downtown area. But oh, what a cool neighborhood it was in! Anyway, met lots of excellent people there, including Todd over at Not an MBA. I also met the Austin Launchpad crew - they’re building out a space and I’m so jealous. But we’ll get there! Ann Arbor needs a coworking space and dammit, we’re gonna get ourselves one.

More later, especially if I continue on my failure to find free booze.

  1. I’m glad I got to meet you in person, Laura. Thanks for the swag, schwag, shwag… I look forward to hearing news about a coworking space in Ann Arbor sometime soon.

Forget the old cartoon, forget any hint of serious intent and go watch this movie for the sheer technicolor delight of it. It's beautiful, it's fast, it's silly (in the good way), it's exciting and inspired. Go Speed go!

notes that Plum Market has various Pepperwood wines on sale, 2 bottles for $10. Good stock-up price, if you like them. 13 mins ago
