travelweb, tech & gadgets

I’ve lost track. Here at the hotel relaxing a bit, out of the convention center - I was feeling a little overwhelmed and a break seemed the right thing to do. More things I’ve learned at SXSW:

  • Consumating is a kind of neat website. Good for playing tag. My profile (yes, here in Austin and still signing up for new services anyway) is here if you want to take a look.
  • Interesting to see all the people using cameras to take ‘notes.’ Lots of pics of being taken of the panelists’ visual media.
  • Attended a great panel, moderated by Christian Crumlish, on web identity and attention. There were some terrific things said; I took notes - it deserves a post of its own.
  • I think we’re off to party with Robert Rodriguez (!) tonight. This whole thing is more than surreal. Fun, but just out of this world.

  1. Mom said you were at “some conference” but sounded like you were having fun. You’re not at “some conference”, you’re at SXSW! Which apparently seems to have grown into more than just a new music/new band frenzy since my college radio days…

  2. Yes, I am indeed at SXSW, or SXSWi, to be exact. There is (of course) still the music part, but that doesn’t begin til Wednesday. This part of the festivities is two things concurrently - the Interactive side, which I’m attending, and the Film side (which includes panels and a film festival), which Keith is attending. And yes, having a blast, twittering away with the web kids.

speed racer

Forget the old cartoon, forget any hint of serious intent and go watch this movie for the sheer technicolor delight of it. It's beautiful, it's fast, it's silly (in the good way), it's exciting and inspired. Go Speed go!
