(Just kidding :)) I have met some freaking miserable atheists. The last two self-identified atheists that I met both tried to cram it down my throat and were actually kinda mean about it. I felt almost like they were people on the far right who try to tell me that you can only go to Heaven if you have JC as your savior. (Well, I guess that lets me out, then!) But what you quoted does kinda make sense...if you hear religion over and over and over again and you honestly don't believe (as opposed to folks who I think are just bitter and want to blame God by not believing in Him/Her/It), I can see becoming kinda mean.
