Living with Keith is like living inside a deconstructed beat poem.
He's at his stream-of-consciousness best in the morning, especially on days when we get a little lie-in.
My favorite bon mot from this morning's performance:
I shall be your Tea Ferret.
Luckily, you can now share the insanity. Thanks to Gcast, Keith can now phone in his revelations for the whole world's listening pleasure. Visit
My Cheese Loves Tuesdays to hear his version of modern English beat.

We've been working on repulse monkey in class. I used to hate repulse monkey. I like it now - it used to feel like dance or something froofy, but now I've had a chance to work through where the power is, where the intention is, and it feels completely different.
Today I was trying to pay attention to the arm part of the movement, as that's where the last of the 'dance' feeling resides. The beginning of the movement has a lot of intention in the arms, but the whole opening up and 'ta-da' part of the end has bothered me for some time. Edward demonstrated for me and I got some insight - there's more of a twisting open into ...

An A string for a 12" viola costs about $3.50 at Shar Music, where the nice young man put the new string on and even tuned the other strings, too.
There are marvelous new
touch screens on our technological horizon.
When doing White Crane Spreads Wings, your head shouldn't really rise up much. There's a bit of an opening up, but not a rising up.
Not only can I write notes on card catalog cards, I can
share them, too.

I love all
The many charms about you
Above all
I want my arms about you
Don't be a naughty baby
Come to me
Come to me do
My sweet embraceable you
(thanks, Gershwin)

Well, there you have it. I am forty now. It seems to me that 50 is the new 40, though - no talk of over the hill just yet, talk of having arrived instead. I suppose when I hit 50, 60 will be the new 40. Baby boomers. Changing everything.
Keith did a great job - I mean really great - of making sure we celebrated the occasion properly. There were drinks on Tuesday, a surprise dinner on Thursday (Prepared at home for me! Thank you Robin!) and a party on Saturday too. I got nice prezzies - mostly of the liquid kind - but a few other goodies, too.
Standing here and looking back ...

Most people don't think they go together. I do. A
scientist has been examining the drip paintings of Jackson Pollock. Most people who see them think they're a random mess of splatters which could be duplicated by any 3 year old. But they aren't - there is a deliberate pattern which can be mathematically described through fractals.
"Pollock was in control," says Taylor. The large-scale fractals are a fingerprint of the artist's body motion, he notes. "But the small-scale fractals are also to do with his choices - his height over the canvas, the fluidity of his paint, angle and force behind the trajectory, and so on."
Taylor also found that the fractal dimension of ...

The president has set high standards, the highest of standards for people in his administration. He's made it very clear to people in his administration that he expects them to adhere to the highest standards of conduct. If anyone in this administration was involved in it, they would no longer be in this administration. - Scott McClellan, Sept 2003 press conference
"If someone committed a crime, they will no longer work in my administration." - President George Bush,
July 18, 2005 press conference
In spite of George's reneging on his pledge to fire anyone who leaked information, he did manage to promise to fire anyone who committed a crime in leaking. Do you suppose that purposefully, willfully, knowingly leaking classified ...
